These tikkas are my family's favorite snack! They love these served with mango chutney.
Ingredients
*1 C. moong dal *4 green chilies *2 C. cabbage, chopped *1 onion, chopped *pinch of asafoetida *1 Tbs. gram flour (chickpea flour) *1/2 tsp. baking soda *1/2 tsp. lemon juice *1 Tbs. chopped fresh coriander leaves *salt to taste *butter or ghee for cooking
Directions
Soak moong dal in cold water to cover overnight. The next day, grind dal witih the chilies. Add cabbage, onion, asafoetida, gram flour, baking soda,lemon juice, chopped coriander and salt to taste. Set aside in the refrigerator or a cool place for 1 hour.
Form small spoonfuls of the moong dal mixture into balls about the size of a large egg, then flatten them to form small patties.
Lightly grease a skillet with butter or ghee and cook patties a few at a time, turning once, until browned on both sides. Serve hot with mango chutney.
