If you're having company over, these tasty little treats make fun and easy appetizers or snacks. Serve these wadas with green chutney.
Ingredients
*2 C. gram dal *7 green chilies *7 C. cabbage, shredded *1 carrot, finely chopped *1 onion, finely chopped *salt to taste *2 Tbs. chopped fresh coriander leaves *oil for deep frying *green chutney
Directions
Soak gram dal in cold water to cover overnight.
Set aside about a quarter of the soaked dal. Grind the remainder with the chilies. Add cabbage, carrot, onion, salt and chopped coriander to the ground dal along with the remaining gram dal.
Take a spoonfuls of the mixture and knead into small thick cakes measuring 2 inches in diameter.
Heat oil for deep frying to 350 F., add cakes, a few at a time, and cook until golden. Drain on absorbent paper and serve immediately with green chutney.
