This festive saffron dish is made even tastier by adding nuts and raisins!
Ingredients
*1/4 tsp. saffron threads *3 Tbs. hot milk or water *1 C. regular or basmati white rice *2 C. water *1/4 tsp. salt *1 tsp. melted butter or oil *1/4 C. nuts *1/4 C. raisins
Directions
Soak saffron in a bowl of hot milk or water to release its color and flavors. Set aside. Boil water with optional salt. Rinse rice and drain completely. Add rice to the boiling water and stir thoroughly. Then allow mixture to come to a second boil and lower the heat. Cover and cook the rice for 5 minutes, then add the saffron liquid. Cover and cook until liquid has been absorbed and the rice is done.
Saute nuts and raisins with a bit of oil or butter until fragrant. Top rice with nut and raisin mixture.
