Dal Powder PDF Print E-mail

Making your own dal powder is so simple! Serve with hot rice and ghee.

Ingredients

*1 C. red lentils
*1 Tbs. yellow split peas
*1 Tbs. split black beans
*1 Tbs. ghee
*1 tsp. black peppercorns
*1 tsp. cumin seeds
*5 dried red chillies
*1/2 tsp. asafoetida
*salt to taste

Directions

Dry roast lentils, split peas and split beans in a pan for 4-5 minutes over a low heat. Heat the ghee and fry peppercorns, cumin seeds, chillies and asafoetida powder for a few minutes until lightly browned. Grind everything to a powder, adding salt to taste. Store in an airtight container.
